Body located in search for missing man - Lightning Ridge

A body, believed to be that of a man reported missing from Lightning Ridge, has been located.

The 68-year-old man was last seen leaving a community event at Lightning Ridge about 8pm on Friday 29 March 2024.

When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Following extensive inquiries, a geo-tracing alert and a multi-agency search with the assistance of local SES personnel, just after 12pm today (Saturday 6 April 2024), searchers located the body of a man.

Whilst the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the 68-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
