A man will appear in court tomorrow charged after two taxi drivers were allegedly targeted in Sydney’s west.

He picked up a passenger and while driving along Blaxcell Street, the man allegedly produced a knife and threatened the driver, demanding money.

The 65-year-old driver pulled into a service station and the man fled. He returned a short time later, allegedly stealing the CCTV camera from the vehicle before running off.

A man got in the vehicle and after an argument, allegedly produced a knife. The driver suffered lacerations to his hands during a struggle with the passenger.

The passenger then got out and approached the driver’s side, allegedly physically assaulting the driver before fleeing.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations to his hands and arm before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command commenced an investigation into both incidents.

Following inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested about 9.45am today (Sunday 31 March 2024), when he attended Granville Police Station.

He has now been charged with aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
