Rural Crime Prevention Team charges man with 20 firearm offences - Strike Force Uji

A man will face court today following an ongoing investigation into a break and enter in the Central West last year.

Officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) and Orana Mid-Western Police District established Strike Uji ito investigate rural break-ins at Aarons Pass on the 10 December 2023 and at Running Stream on the 26 December 2023.

A large amount of property was stolen from both properties, with eight firearms, cash, and a car stolen from the Running Stream property. That house was then destroyed by fire.

The stolen vehicle was found last week (Thursday 7 March 2024), burnt-out at Warimoo.

Following inquiries, officers yesterday (Friday 15 March 2024), executed a search warrant at a home in Cambridge Park.

It will be alleged police located drugs and firearms during the search.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the home and was taken to Penrith Police Station where he has been charged with 27 offences,

• Possess unauthorised firearm (nine counts)

• Acquire etc firearm – subject to prohibition order (four counts)

• Acquire etc pistol – subject to Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO)

• Steal firearm or imitation firearm

• Possess unauthorised pistol

• Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order

• Give firearm to person not authorised by licence/permit (two counts)

• Give pistol to person not authorised by licence/permit

• Aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence

• Damage property by fire/explosion (two counts)

• Steal motor vehicle

• Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

• Supply a prohibited drug, and

• Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 16 March 2024).

A 36-year-old woman from Cranebrook, rhas been charged with nine offences in relation to the two incidents. She remains in custody and is due to appear in Mudgee Local Court on 9 April 2024.

A 26-year-old man, from Blacktown, also remains in custody charged in relation to the Aarons Pass incident and other matters. He is next due in Mudgee Local Court on 25 May 2024.
