Appeal for information following jet ski crash - Sylvania

Police are appealing for information following a jet ski crash in Sydney’s south earlier this week.

Just after 6pm on Tuesday (22 July 2025), emergency services were called to the Georges Rivers at Tom Uglys Bridge, Sylvania, following reports of persons in the water.

Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were told a jet ski had crashed, leaving two people in the water.

A 15-year-old boy died at the scene and a 14-year-old boy was taken to Sydney Children’s hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics in a critical condition, where he remains.

A report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner.

A crime scene was established, and the Marine Area Command commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing to residents who may have CCTV footage overlooking the Georges River, or anyone with relevant information, to contact the Marine Area Command on (02) 9320 7499 or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
