Teen charged with assault offences following pursuit - Bathurst

A teenager has been charged after allegedly knocking an elderly woman during a foot pursuit in Bathurst today.
About 2.30pm today (Thursday 24 July 2025), officers from Chifley Police District were speaking to a 16-year-old boy on William Street, Bathurst, in relation to an alleged assault on Howick Street, Bathurst, yesterday (Wednesday 23 July 2025).
While police were speaking to the boy, he alleged ran from police through a nearby shopping centre.
During the foot pursuit, the teen allegedly knocked over a 70-year-old woman.
Police stopped to render assistance to the woman and contacted NSW Ambulance paramedics.
She was treated at the scene and taken to Bathurst Base Hospital in a stable condition.
The boy was arrested a short time later and taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with:
- assault occasioning actual bodily harm (three counts)
- hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
- common assault.
He will appear at a children’s court tomorrow (Friday 25 July 2025).
