Man charged after officers injured during attempted arrest - Hazelbrook

A man will face court charged after two police officers were injured during an attempted arrest in the Blue Mountains earlier this week.

About 10.20am on Monday 21 July 2025, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area command attempted to arrest a man on Railway Parade, Hazelbrook, in relation to a pursuit the previous week.

A Taser was deployed during the man’s arrest; however, a woman – believed to be known to the man – allegedly intervened and the man ran away after he allegedly assaulted two male officers.

Both officers sustained minor injuries.

The 40-year-old woman was charged on the same day and remains before the court.

Following further inquiries, about 6.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 23 July 2025), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command, with the assistance from North West Metropolitan Region Operations Support Group, arrested a 34-year-old man at a home on River Road, Emu Plains.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause aggravated bodily harm (three counts), hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty and escape police custody.

He was additionally charged with not stop vehicle when directed to do so, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road and not stop at stop line.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 24 July 2025).
