Man dies following two-vehicle crash near Wilcannia

A man has died following a crash between a car and a truck in the state’s far west today.

About 8.45am today (Tuesday 22 July 2025), emergency services were called to the Barrier Highway, about 2km south-east of Wilcannia, following reports of a crash.

The driver of the car – a man in his 30s – died at the scene.

The driver of the truck – a man aged 25 – was taken to Wilcannia Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Barrier Highway is closed in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
