Police operation underway - Tuggerah Lakes Police District

An operation is underway on the Central Coast as police search for a man alleged to be involved in a domestic violence assault and subsequent pursuit.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to Goorama Avenue, San Remo, about 5am today (Thursday 17 July 2025) after a man armed with a knife was reported to be standing in the middle of the road.

A Taser was deployed to affect the man’s arrest; however, he got into his car and allegedly drove at police, ramming their vehicle. A police firearm was discharged and the man drove from the scene.

Police are searching for the driver of a grey Mitsubishi station wagon, NSW registration EVM91J.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District are patrolling the vicinity of San Remo, Budgewoi and Charmhaven as part of the ongoing operation.

A woman has been taken to hospital for assessment. No further details are available on her age or injuries.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

Members of the public are advised not to approach the driver or the vehicle and instead call Triple Zero (000).
