Raptor Squad charge man alleged with firearm, drug, fraud offences - Strike Force Commodine

A man has been charged with a number of alleged firearm, drug and fraud offences following an investigation by Raptor Squad officers.

In July 2024, police attached to Brisbane Water Police District commenced an investigation into reports almost $50,000 worth of shares were allegedly stolen from a victim’s account.

In March 2025, Strike Force Commodine was established by the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad and to investigate a Sydney man allegedly involved in fraudulent activity and the manufacture of firearms.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a unit on Pitt Street, Sydney, about 7.20am yesterday (Wednesday 16 July 2025).

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the unit and was taken to Day Street Police Station.

During a search of the unit, police allegedly located a 3D printed firearm, 3D printing devices, knuckle dusters, various documents, electronics and an amount of methylamphetamine.

The items were seized for forensic examination.

The 36-year-old man was charged with 19 offences:

  • Six counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception
  • Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception
  • Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal
  • Use false document to obtain financial advantage etc
  • Use forged Commonwealth document for person to accept
  • Possess prohibited drug
  • Possess unauthorised pistol
  • Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
  • Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
  • Possess equipment etc make id info commit indictable offence
  • Possess identity info to commit etc indictable offence
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle)
  • Fail to comply digital evidence access order direction
  • Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime

The 36-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 17 July 2025).

Police will allege in court the man fraudulently obtained a loan worth $100,000 using false documents, as well as allegedly defrauding two victims out of more than $85,000 through the theft and sale of shares.
