UPDATE: Fatal single-vehicle crash - Mid North Coast

A woman and child have died in a single-vehicle crash on the state’s Mid North Coast today.

About 9.40am (Thursday 10 July 2025), emergency services were called to Hat Head Road, Hat Head, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended and found a vehicle had caught fire after crashing into a tree.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews extinguished the blaze.

The body of a woman, believed to be in her 20’s, and a child, believed to be two years old, were located inside.

They are both yet to be formally identified.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
