Man charged over pursuit after knives seized - Fernhill

A man will face court over a pursuit in the state’s Wollongong region yesterday.
Just after 10.55am yesterday (Tuesday 8 July 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Wallace Road, Fernhill, about 5km north of Wollongong, following reports of a man with an alleged knife.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District were told the man left the scene in a white sedan before police arrived.
A short time later, police located the sedan on Wallace Street, Fernhill, and attempted to stop the vehicle.
When it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Lake Parade, Corrimal, where road spikes were successfully deployed before the sedan came to stop on Pioneer Road, Corrimal.
The driver – a 38-year-old man – was arrested and police searched the vehicle where they seized three knives.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, drive vehicle under influence of drugs, and custody of knife in public place.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 3 today (Wednesday 9 July 2025).
