More than 45 people arrested during Operation Ensure in Sydney's west

More than 45 people have been arrested and 95 charges laid in a week-long operation focused on disrupting knife crime in Sydney’s west.
Operation Ensure ran from Thursday 26 June 2025 to Friday 4 July 2025 and focused on preventing, disrupting and responding to knife crime and anti-social behaviour in busy transport and business districts in Mount Druitt and Blacktown.
The operation was supported by knife wanding deployments and high visibility police patrols by officers attached to Blacktown and Mount Druitt Police Area Commands, Operation Kella, North West Metropolitan Operational Support Group, Penrith Region Enforcement Squad, Police Transport Command North West and Central Metropolitan Police.
As a result, 46 people were arrested resulting in 95 charges laid, including the arrest and charge of an 18-year-old man last night (Friday 4 July 2025), over an alleged stabbing incident in Mt Druitt on 24 June 2025 in conjunction with Strike Force Leeman officers.
Police also seized nine knives and scanned more than 3300 people during the operation.
Incidents of note:
- Incident A: About 4pm on Friday (27 June 2025) a 14-year-old boy was stopped at Mt Druitt Railway Station and was subjected to a wanding scan. The boy allegedly began verbally threatening police before he was arrested. During the arrest, he allegedly assaulted two police officers. The teenager was searched and police allegedly located a replica firearm. He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, custody of knife in public place, carry cutting weapon upon apprehension, intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, travel or attempt to travel without valid ticket and breach of bail. He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Saturday 28 June 2025.
- Incident B: About 2.30pm on Saturday (28 June 2025), police attached to Operation Ensure were notified of a brawl at Dawson Mall, Mt Druitt. Officers were told a group of men had allegedly been involved in a brawl in which glass bottles were thrown. No injuries were reported. Four men – aged 24, 25, 32 and 34 – were arrested shortly after and were taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where they were all charged with one count of affray. The two younger men were bail refused and faced Parramatta Local Court where they were again refused bail. The two older men were granted conditional bail. All four men are due to face Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 9 July 2025.
- Incident C: About 11:20pm yesterday (Friday 4 July 2025) officers noticed a white Holden Commodore ute with alleged stolen number plates on Bulah Way, Seven Hills. Two pursuits were initiated and continued to Fitzwilliam Road, Toongabbie, where the driver travelled through a roundabout and hit a telegraph pole. The driver then reversed the vehicle before allegedly accelerating towards police, hitting the front passenger side of the police vehicle. The man was arrested nearby and taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, use class A vehicle displaying misleading etc number-plate, and use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc. The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 12 August 2025.
