Man charged with trespass and larceny offences - Murrumbidgee PD

A man will appear in court today, charged with larceny and trespass offences in the state’s south.

On Friday 20 June 2025, officers attached to Rural Crime Prevention Team were notified of reports of a person allegedly trespassing and removing firewood at a rural property in Darlington Point, about 48km west of Leeton.

Officers responded to the property and commenced an investigation.

Police seized a number of items from the property including a block splitter, chainsaw cover, fuel container, broken chain and padlock and ratchet strap.

Following extensive investigations, about 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 30 June 2025), a 24-year-old man was arrested at Griffith Police Station.

He was charged with larceny value less than/ equal to $2000 and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

He was refused bail top appear in Griffith Local Court today (Tuesday 1 July 2025).

Police will allege in court the man cut down trees on the property and stole between 500 and 700 kilograms of wood.
