A critical incident investigation has now been declared after a woman was injured in an unauthorised protest in Sydney’s west on Friday 27 June 2025.

NSW Police had sought medical information from the 35-year-old woman, on multiple occasions, since the incident to determine if her injuries had met the critical incident threshold.

Late this afternoon, the woman’s solicitor provided the medical records. These were independently reviewed by the NSW Police Medical Officer, who determined the level of injury warranted a critical incident declaration.

A Level 2 critical incident was declared at 3:25pm by Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden, Commander South West Metropolitan Region, under Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) guidelines.

A critical incident team from Campbelltown City Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the LECC.

The incident follows a police response to an unauthorised protest in front of a business in Lakemba Street, Belmore on Friday 27 June 2025.

Police issued two move on directions to a group of about 60 protesters, who allegedly attempted to block pedestrian access to the business.

The 35-year-old woman were subsequently arrested after allegedly failing to comply with the direction and resisting arrest.

During her arrest, she sustained facial injuries and was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment.
