Man charged after crash into a school - Turvey Park

A man will face court charged after allegedly crashing through a primary school in that state’s west.

About 12.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 June 2025), police attached to Riverina Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Fernleigh Road, Turvey Park, when they observed a Holden sedan crash into a primary school fence.

There were no reports of injury.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, allegedly ran through the school before being arrested a few meters away.

A front occupant of the vehicle, a 60-year-old woman, was trapped in the vehicle before being extricated a short time later, uninjured.

The man was subjected to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result which allegedly returned a positive result for Methylamphetamine.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where a secondary drug analysis was conducted and sent for further testing.

Subsequent checks revealed the man’s driver licence was disqualified until June 2026.

He was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, use uninsured motor vehicle on road, and enter prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 26 June 2025).
