Man charged after alleged stabbing following crash - Neath

A man has been charged after a driver was stabbed following a crash in the state’s Hunter region this morning.
About 4.40am today (Thursday 19 June 2025), officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District commenced an investigation after a 40-year-old man attended Cessnock Police Station with stab wounds.
Police were told the man was driving a Holden sedan on Cessnock Road, Neath when it collided with a Subaru sedan.
Following the crash a passenger in the Subaru sedan allegedly stabbed the driver of the other vehicle in the leg.
The 40-year-old was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to a hospital for further treatment.
A short time later, police were called to Cessnock Road, Neath, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
On arrival, police located the Subaru – involved in the earlier incident – and arrested a 34-year-old man at the scene before taking him to John Hunter Hospital under police guard.
Upon his release, he was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.
He was refused bail to appear before Cessnock Local Court on Friday 20 June 2025.
