UPDATE: Pedestrian dies after an alleged hit-and-run - Glenfield

A pedestrian has died following an alleged hit and run in Sydney’s south west.

About 4.15pm yesterday (Monday, 16 June 2025), emergency services responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car at the intersection of Belmont Road and Canterbury Road, Glenfield.

The pedestrian – a 70-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command were told that the man was hit by a car at the location.

The car allegedly failed to stop and was last seen travelling north along Canterbury Road.

The car is described as being a silver coloured dual cab utility – possibly a Totoya Hilux.

A crime scene was established and and examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have since been told the man died in hospital.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
