Charges laid over alleged kidnapping and aggravated robbery - Chifley Police District

Detectives have laid charges following an investigation into an alleged kidnapping and aggravated robbery in the central tablelands last month.

About 11am on Saturday 3 May 2025, two men attended Suttor Street, Bathurst, to buy a car when they were approached by four men.

The two men were allegedly assaulted and threatened with a knife and forced into their own vehicle where two other men directed them to drive to a business in Blayney.

The two other men followed in a Toyota Landcruiser.

Upon arrival at the business the four men allegedly demanded cash before the group left in the Landcruiser.

The two men aged 57, and 28, attended Orange Health Service for treatment of a laceration to the lip and bruising to the face and arms.

Police attached to Chifley Police District were notified of the incident on Monday 5 May 2025, and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Condah.

Following inquiries, about 8.30am on Tuesday 3 June 2025, strike force officers executed a search warrant at a home on Hamley Street, Bathurst, and arrested a 47-year-old man.

Officers located and seized, a mobile phone, and an extendable baton.

The man was charged with two counts of take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, two counts of robbery in company, and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

About 3.45pm, the same day, officers arrested a 36-year-old man walking on Coral Way, Bathurst, and was taken to Bathurst Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, robbery in company, and robbery armed with offensive weapon.

Both men were refused bail and appeared at Bathurst Local Court on Wednesday 4 June 2025, where they were formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 16 July 2025.

Following further inquiries, about 2pm on Wednesday 4 June 2025, police attended another home on Hamley Street, Bathurst, for an unrelated matter and arrested a 38-year-old man.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with two counts of take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, and two counts of robbery in company.

He was refused bail and appeared at Bathurst Local Court on Thursday 5 June 2025, where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Wednesday 30 July 2025.

Strike Force officers executed a search warrant at a home on Scotia Avenue, Oberon, about 1.30pm on Wednesday 11 June 2025.

Police seized a watch, ammunition, and cloned registration plates.

Following further inquiries, about 9.40am on Friday 13 June 2025, officers executed a search warrant at a business on Matthew Street, Parkes, and arrested a 34-year-old man and seized a mobile phone.

He was taken to Parkes Police Station and charged with two counts of take in company with intent get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, and two counts of robbery in company.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Parkes Local Court on Friday 13 June 2025, where he was given conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Friday 8 August 2025.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
