Rural Crime Prevention team charges man with 26 offences - Strike Force Compartment

Police have charged a man for multiple property and firearms offences in the state’s west.
In January 2025, officers attached to Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) and Orana Mid-Western Police District established Strike Force Compartment to investigate break and enter offences in the Orana Mid-Western area in December 2024.
In December 2024, a rural property on Castlereagh Highway, Mendooran, was subject of a break, enter and steal. Among the items stolen were 13 firearms.
Following extensive inquiries, about 8.15am on Thursday 12 June 2025, detectives attached to RCPT at Mudgee, with the assistance from Mudgee Detectives, Dubbo Detectives and the Operations Support Group, executed a search warrant at a home on Yalcogran Street, Mendooran.
Among the items seized by police was a complete firearm and firearm parts, a large amount of ammunition and a $7000 mountain bike.
On Friday 13 June 20025, a 29-year-old man was arrested just after 11.30am in Merrygoen. He was taken to Mudgee Police Station where he was charged with 25 offences:
- Three counts of aggravated enter dwelling and steal,
- 12 counts of steal firearm,
- Possess unregistered firearm,
- Possess stolen firearm,
- Possess barrel for firearm.
- Possess shortened firearm,
- Shorten firearm,
- Goods in custody,
- 3 counts of acquire firearm part,
- Possess ammunition subject to prohibition order and
- stealing
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court via AVL tomorrow (Saturday 14 June 2025).
