Appeal for assistance after child hit by car - Merrylands

Police are appealing for public assistance after a teenage girl was hit by a car in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 6pm yesterday (Monday 9 June 2025), emergency services were called to the intersection of Denmark and St Ann Streets, Merrylands, following reports a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 16-year-old girl at the scene before she was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, leaving the scene.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command have commenced investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with the driver of a black SUV who they believe may assist with their inquiries.

Police are also appealing to anyone with dashcam footage who might have been travelling near Denmark or St Ann Street, Merrylands about 6pm to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Merrylands Police Station.
