Four boys arrested after alleged break-in, car theft and pursuit - Moree

Four boys have been arrested after they allegedly broke into a home, stole a car and were involved in a pursuit in the New England region overnight.
Officers attached to New England Police District were called to a home on Adelaide Street, Moree, about 8pm (Friday 30 May 2025), and were told the premises had been broken into and a utility stolen.
Police established a crime scene and an investigation was initiated under Operation Soteria.
A short time later, police saw the ute being driven along Anne Street. When the driver allegedly failed to stop when directed a pursuit was initiated. It continued until officers successfully deployed road spikes on Edward Street, and the car stopped on Florence Street.
Four boys allegedly travelling in the ute were arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.
The alleged driver – a 14-year-old boy – was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner, negligent driving, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, driver not wear seatbelt properly adjusted and fastened, and drive with one passenger seatbelt/restraint not properly fastened.
A second 14-year-old boy was charged with enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Two other boys – aged 11 and 12 – were both dealt under the Young Offenders’ Act.
The alleged driver was refused bail and appeared via AVL in Parramatta Children’s Court today (Saturday 31 May 2025), where he was bail refused to appear in a children’s court on Monday 2 June 2025.
The second boy was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday 19 June 2025.
