Man charged after elderly man dies after being hit by car - Liverpool

A man has been charged after a elderly man died when he was hit by a car Sydney’s southwest last night.

About 10pm (Thursday 22 May 2025), emergency services were called to Elizabeth Drive, Liverpool, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a sedan.

On arrival, officers attached to Liverpool Police Area Command found a 95-year-old man with critical injuries.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where he later died.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following inquiries, a short time later a 36-year-old man was arrested at an address in Narellan Crescent, Bonnyrigg Heights, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing. He was uninjured.

He was then taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 29 May 2025.

Police will allege in court the man did not stop and assist following the crash.
