Man charged with alleged fraud, traffic and break and enter offences - Southern Highlands

A man will face court charged with alleged fraud, traffic and a break and enter offences in the Southern Highlands over the weekend.

On Sunday (18 May 2025), officers attached to The Hume Police District commenced investigations following an alleged fail to pay incident at a service station on The Hume Highway, Sutton Forest, involving an Audi sedan.

About 11.40pm the same day, the sedan was allegedly involved in a break and enter at a home on Jeffery’s Lane, Penrose.

About 9am on Monday (19 May 2025), police were called to the home in Penrose, where they located a 50-year-old man still at the property.

He was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station.

Following inquiries, subsequent checks revealed the sedan had false plates and the man was disqualified from driving until 2026.

He was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive unregistered vehicle on road or road related area, use uninsured motor vehicle on road, dishonestly obtain property by deception, use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed, and break and enter house destroy property less than $60,000.

He was refused bail to appear before Moss Vale Local Court today (Tuesday 20 May 2025).
