Inquiry underway into death of man stabbed at Mudgee

An investigation is underway into the death of man who was stabbed at Mudgee overnight.

Police were called to Mudgee Hospital about 11pm (Saturday 17 May 2025), when a 22-year-old man died there after being brought to the hospital suffering a stab wound to his abdomen.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District established crime scenes at the hospital and Gladstone Street, where it’s believed the man was stabbed during a fight with another person.

Strike Force Dunedin – comprising detectives from Orana Mid-Western PD assisted by State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Police are now speaking with a number of people and are appealing for anyone with information about the incident – or who has dashcam in the vicinity of Gladstone Street between 10.30pm to 10.50pm – to contact Mudgee Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
