Man charged with 53 hate related offences - Inner West PAC

A man has been charged with a large number offences relating to hate crimes committed in Sydney’s Inner West.
About 12.20am today (Sunday 18 May 2025), officers from Inner West Police Area Command on general patrol allegedly observed a 21-year-old man spraying paint on decals affiliated with specific members of the community along Crystal Street, Petersham.
The man was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station.
Following inquiries, it will be further alleged that the man has damaged and sprayed offensive messages on buildings and political posters commencing on Tuesday 22 April 2025 until the time of his arrest in the Erskineville and Newtown areas.
He was charged with 53 offences including:
- · Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse x 1
- · Intentionally mark premises etc without prescribed consent x 8
- · Knowingly display by public act Nazi symbol without excuse x 21
- · Destroy or damage property x 23
The man has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 18 May 2025).
