Barber shop fire appeal for information - Merrylands

Police have released CCTV footage as they investigate a fire at a business in Sydney’s south west.
Just after 4am today (Thursday 8 May 2025), emergency services were called to a barber shop on Merrylands Road, Merrylands, following reports of a fire.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and extinguished the blaze before establishing a crime scene.
An investigation into the incident has commenced as the incident is being treated as suspicious.
A person is reported to have caught on fire, but they left the scene in a silver-coloured hatchback prior to emergency services attending.
As inquiries continue detectives have released footage of the vehicle and the person who maybe able to assist with the investigation.
The person is described as thin build wearing a black-hooded tracksuit, black face covering, black shoes, blue gloves.
