Man and woman charged after allegedly assaulting police - Gilgandra

A man and woman will face court today charged after allegedly assaulting police in the state’s Central West.

Just after 10.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 6 May 2025), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a home in Gilgandra, to speak with a man.

Upon arrival, police will allege the man ran from the home, and a foot pursuit was initiated. The man jumped several fences and was arrested a short time later on Waugan Street, Gilgandra.

Following a struggle the 35-year-old man was arrested a taken to Dubbo Police Station. During his arrest he allegedly spat several times at the Senior Constable and Probationary Constable.

While police placed the man inside the police vehicle a woman has approached and allegedly threw an object at a window on a police vehicle, causing the window to shatter.

The 52-year-old woman was also arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

The man was charged with four counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

The woman was charged with destroy or damage property over $ 2000.

The pair were refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 7 May 2025).
