Six charged at Dubbo under Operation Soteria

Six people have been charged during three-day operation in the state’s west earlier this week.

Between Thursday 1 May 2025 and Saturday 3 May 2025, officers attached to Operation Soteria, with the assistance from officers attached to Western Region, Orana Mid-Western Police District, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Youth Command, PolAir and Dog Unit, have conducted a proactive operation in Dubbo area.

During the operation,

  • Six people were arrested
  • 15 charges were laid
  • Four people and two vehicles were searched
  • 40 traffic infringement notices were issued, and
  • Five school visits were conducted and engaged with more than 600 students to make them aware of police and youth assistance services.

Some examples of arrests during the operation include

  • About 8.30pm on Thursday 1 May 2025, police attended a home on Aldrin Avenue, Dubbo, where they arrested a wanted 44-year-old woman. She was taken to Dubbo Police Station where she was charged with an outstanding warrant on use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty. She was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court last Friday (2 May 2025), where she was refused bail to appear at the same court on Monday 12 May 2025.

  • About 5.10pm on Thursday 1 May 2025, police were patrolling on O’Donnell Street, Dubbo, when they located a motorcycle allegedly being ridden dangerously. A short time later, officers arrested a 35-year-old male rider on Cooinda Crescent Dubbo. He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and motor bike rider(alone) not wear/secure fit approve helmet. He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Friday 2 May 2025.
