Man charged after public place shooting and car fire - Marsden Park

A man has been charged as an investigation continues into a public place shooting and a car fire overnight.

About 10.45pm last night (Thursday 1 May 2025) police were called to Steeple Place, Marsden Park, following reports of shots fired.

Officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command attended and found several shots had been fired into a house.

No injuries were reported.

A short time later, about 11.20pm, emergency services were called to a park on Oramzi Road, Girraween, following reports of a car fire.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended, alongside Fire and Rescue NSW crews who extinguished the blaze.

The vehicle was destroyed.

Police established crime scenes at both locations and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

Officers continue to investigate whether the two incidents are linked.

Following inquiries, patrolling officers stopped a ride share vehicle on Lucretia Road, Toongabbie, where they spoke with the passenger onboard.

During a search of passenger, an 18-year-old man, police allegedly located and seized a firearm and spent ammunition cartridges.

The man was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, not keep firearm safely - prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm in public place, possess firearm not stamped/engraved with allotted number and acquire etc firearm - subject to prohibition order.

He was refused bail to appeared before Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 2 May 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Friday 16 May 2025.
