Man charged over alleged break and enters - Bathurst

A man will face court today, charged over several alleged break and enters in Bathurst earlier this week.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District commenced an investigation following reports of four break and enters at separate cafes on William Street, Bathurst.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred across three days - Tuesday (29 April 2025), Wednesday (30 April 2025) and Thursday (1 May 2025).

In total, more than $1000 cash was allegedly stolen from the locations.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 53-year-old man outside a hotel on Charlotte Street, Bathurst, about 4.20pm Thursday (1 May 2025).

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with three counts of break and enter house etc steal, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and hinder/resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court today (Friday 2 May 2025).
