Man charged with serious domestic violence offences - Parkes

A man has been charged with multiple offences following a serious domestic violence incident in the state’s west.

About 10.10pm on Tuesday (29 April 2025), police were called to a unit on Victoria Street, Parkes, following reports of a domestic incident.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and were told a 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a 28-year-old man known to her.

During the assault, the man had allegedly attempted to discharge a firearm towards the woman.

Further police attended to assist; however, the man had left the scene.

During a search of the unit, officers located and seized a firearm and an amount of ammunition.

The 20-year-old woman was taken to Parkes Hospital for treatment.

Following inquiries, about 12.20pm on Wednesday (30 April 2025), the 28-year-old man was arrested after attending Parkes Police Station.

He was charged with intentionally choke etc person without consent (DV), common assault, use etc offensive weapon with intent commit indictable offence, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, attempt to discharge firearm etc intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV) and possess ammunition without holding licene/permit/ authority.

He was refused bail to appear before Cowra Local Court today (Thursday 1 May 2025).
