Body found during search for woman missing from the ACT

Police have located a body while searching for a woman reported missing from the Nation’s capital.
The 26-year-old was last seen on Friday 27 September 2024, leaving her home in the northern Canberra suburb of Dickson.
She was reported missing to officers from ACT Policing, who commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Following enquiries, about 11.45am yesterday (Sunday 29 September 2024), officers from The Hume Police District found the body of a woman near Wells Creek, Berrima, in the Southern Highlands.
The body has been formally identified as that of the missing woman.
As investigations continue, police are appealing to anyone who might have seen or has dashcam footage of a distinctive red Volkswagen Golf sedan bearing ACT registration YOP57Z travelling on the Hume Highway between the ACT and Berrima between the early hours of last Friday morning (27 September 2024) and 10.45am yesterday (Sunday 29 September 2024).
The vehicle is distinctive as it has significant hail damage to all panels of the vehicle.
Initial inquiries suggest the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
A report outlining the circumstances of the woman’s death will be prepared by police for the information of the Coroner.
