Appeal for information after man stabbed at Haymarket

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was stabbed at Haymarket yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Darling Drive about 4.20pm (Sunday 29 September 2024), following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command have been told a 22-year-old man was walking near the light rail stop at Chinatown when he was stabbed in the back by another man who ran away towards Darling Drive.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist investigators.

The man is described as being aged about 40 or 50, of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern or Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, of medium build, balding with dark hair and a short beard.

He was wearing a dark top, blue or black pants with white writing on the front and white joggers.
