Two charged following break and enter - Riverina PD

Police have charged two men following extensive investigations into multiple break and enter offences in state’s south.

In September 2024, officers attached to Riverina Police District commenced an investigation following reports of two break and enter incidents in the regions:

  • About 3pm on Friday (20 September 2024), police were called to an address on Grenfell Street, West Wyalong, following reports of an alleged break an enter. Police were told items worth over $5000 were stolen.

  • About 12am on Saturday (21 September 2024), police were called to a church on Victoria Street, Temora, following reports of an alleged break and enter. Police were told unknown people forced to enter the church and stole number of items before fleeing the scene.

Initial inquires into the two incidents alleged they were linked.

Following extensive inquiries, about 3.30pm on Saturday (21 September 2024), officers attached to Riverina and Murrumbidgee Police Districts stopped a black Kia hatchback on Goldfields Way, Barmedman, before they arrested two men aged 46 and 43.

Police conducted a search and located items – believed to be stolen – from the vehicle.

They were both taken to Temora Police Station.

The older man was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000.

The younger man was charged with break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000 and break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60000.

The older man was granted conditional bail to appear at Temora Local Court on Wednesday (23 October 2024).

The younger man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Sunday (22 September 2024), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Temora Local Court on Wednesday (23 October 2024).
