Man extradited from Queensland for alleged domestic violence offences

A man will face court today after being charged with outstanding warrants for alleged domestic violence offences.
In April 2022, police commenced an investigation following reports a man allegedly threatened and stalked a woman known to him in NSW before he travelled to Queensland.
Following extensive investigations officers from North West Metropolitan Domestic Violence High Risk Offenders Team, with assistance from Queensland Police Service officers, arrested a 33-year-old man at a home in Calliope, Queensland, on Monday 16 September 2024.
He appeared before Gladstone Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday 18 September 2024), where an application for extradition was granted.
The man, accompanied by NSW Police officers, arrived at Sydney Airport yesterday before he was taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
The warrants were executed in relation to a breach of a community corrections order.
The man was charged with:
• Three counts stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal)
• Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic)
• Attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (domestic)
• Use carriage service to menace/harass/offend
• Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday 20 September 2024).
