Teen charged with multiple property-related offences in Tamworth - Operation Regional Mongoose

A teen will face court after being charged following an investigation into multiple alleged property-related incidents in the state’s north.

About 4am on Monday 15 July 2024, emergency services responded to reports of a man being injured at a premises at The Grange, Tamworth.

A 56-year-old man suffered injuries to his leg after he was struck with a machete. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tamworth Hospital for further treatment.

Officers from Oxley Police District were told three youths – allegedly armed with a machete and knives - forced their way into the home and threatened the man, demanding his car keys.

The group allegedly left the premises in the man’s Mercedes which was later recovered.

Following inquiries, about 1.30pm on Friday (13 September 2024), an 18-year-old boy was served a future court attendance notice at a correctional facility for;

  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (three counts)
  • Break and enter house steal
  • Use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, and
  • Special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-wound.

The charges also relate to other alleged offences committed throughout the Tamworth area.

He will appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 5 November 2024.
