Crash investigators are appealing for information from the public as they continue to investigate the circumstances of a fatal head-on crash on the state’s Central Coast.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway at Doyalson about 8.30pm on Monday (31 October 2022), after a 2000-model white Toyota Landcruiser Prado – allegedly being driven north in the southbound lanes – and a southbound 2013-model white Hyandai i30 collided head-on.

The car driver, a 56-year-old man from Mannering Park, died at the scene while the driver of the SUV, a 52-year-old man from Lake Munmorah, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condtion with head, chest and leg injuries.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene with Crash Investigation Unit officers now conducting inquiries.

They are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicles in the minutes leading up to the crash, to come forward.

Of note, investigators wish to speak with anyone who was travelling southbound on the Pacific Highway and forced to take evasive action before the crash occurred.

Police believe an SUV – possibly a utility – was travelling southbound and swerved onto the median strip to avoid colliding with the Prado shortly before the crash. This driver is urged to contact police.

It is not suggested this driver committed any offence; however, may have information relevant to investigators.

Anyone with information or dashcam vision is urged contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.

Inquiries continue.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
