Man charged following alleged road rage assault - Murray River PD

A man has been charged over an alleged road rage assault in the state’s south yesterday.

Police have been told two vehicles were travelling north along the Hume Highway, Table Top, about 3.20pm (Sunday 23 October 2022), when the passenger of grey Nissan Patrol and driver of a grey Ford Falcon became involved in a verbal altercation.

The driver of the Ford took the Olympic Highway exit, followed by the Nissan, before both pulled over.

It will be alleged that the passenger of the Nissan – a man aged 37 – pulled the driver of the Ford, a man aged 61 – to the ground, before kicking him in the head several times, causing him to lose consciousness.

The younger man allegedly left the scene, before emergency services were called.

The older man was taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment.

Following inquiries, the 37-year-old man was arrested in Culcairn, about 3.50pm (Sunday 23 October 2022).

He was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Albury Local Court on Wednesday 16 November 2022.
