A man has been charged with high-range PCA after allegedly crashing into a bus in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.

About 7.30pm (Tuesday 20 September 2022), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were called to Clarence Street, Sydney, following reports a Porsche had crashed into a stationary bus.

Police were told the Porsche crashed into the rear of the bus – which had stopped to board passengers – before the male driver fled on foot.

A short time later, the driver – a 54-year-old man – returned to the scene.

He underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive reading.

The man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.204.

He was charged with drive with high-range PCA and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

His licence was also confiscated and suspended.

The Newport man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 21 September 2022).

No one was injured during the incident.
