Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man over the 2020 shooting murder of a man in Sydney’s west.

About 2.30am on Monday 30 November 2020, emergency services were called to Rymill Street at Tregear, following reports of a home invasion.

When police arrived, they located a man suffering gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.

The man was later identified as 30-year-old, Adnan Salameh.

Initial inquiries were conducted by officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command before detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – in collaboration with North West Metropolitan Region investigators and the NSW Crime Commission (NSWCC)– took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Chatelaine.

Following numerous public appeals for information, strike force detectives – with the assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad – attended a property in Leumeah and arrested a 21-year-old man about 10am today (Wednesday 31 August 2022).

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with murder, special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence and supply prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today.

Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, said this is a great result following a complex investigation.

“There were several lines of inquiry our strike force detectives were following, so this is a great arrest off the back of months of inquiries and external public appeals.

“This proves once again that investigators will not rest until there’s a resolution for unsolved matters, to provide answers and closure to families,” Det Supt Danny Doherty said.
