Five teenagers charged following stabbing - Bankstown

Five teenagers have been charged following a stabbing in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

About 3.15pm (Wednesday 3 August 2022), emergency services were called to Chapel Road, Bankstown, following reports of stabbing.

A 15-year-old boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations to his back and taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

A second 15-year-old boy was treated by paramedics for a laceration to the thigh, while a third 15-year-old boy was treated for swelling and bruising to the face.

A number of people fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, two males – aged 15 and 16 – were arrested at a home in Greenacre about 5.30pm.

A further two males – both aged 16 – were arrested at homes in Yagoona about 7.20pm.

A fifth male – aged 15 – was arrested at Bankstown about 8.30pm.

They were taken to Bankstown Police Station where the five were all charged with reckless wounding in company and affray.

They were refused bail and will appear in a Children’s Court later today (Thursday 4 August 2022).
