A man has been charged over a domestic related incident in Sydney’s east.

It will be alleged that about 11pm on Saturday 21 October 2023 a 25-year-old man damaged two snake enclosures that were stored at his unit on Mount Street, Coogee.

The snakes were allegedly placed in an unsecured box on the footpath at the front of the premises where they were unable to be later located.

The owner of the snakes – a 25-year-old woman who is known to the man – reported the incident to officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command who commenced an investigation into the matter.

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with two counts of destroy or damage property <$2000 (DV).

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Saturday 28 October 2023).
