Investigation into motorcycle rider found deceased near Forster

Police have commenced an investigation after the body of a motorcycle rider was located on the states Mid North Coast.

Shortly before 9pm yesterday (Thursday 26 October 2023), emergency services responded to reports that a body had been located in the northbound lanes of the Pacific Highway, Wootton, approximately 25km south-west of Forster.

Officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District established a crime scene.

A search of the area located a motorcycle a short distance away on the edge of the roadway.

It is not known how long the rider may have been on the roadway before emergency services were contacted.

The identity of the rider is unknown at this stage.

Specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.

As inquiries continue police are urging anyone who may have been travelling along the Pacific Highway – especially with dashcam footage - in the hours before the rider was located to contact Forster Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
