Search underway for man missing in the Hawkesbury region

A search is underway tonight in the Hawkesbury region as police continue to search for a man missing from Sydney’s south-west.

Phong Luu, aged 72, was last seen at an address on Broomfield Street, Cabramatta, about 6am yesterday (Sunday 7 May 2023), before being seen again on Packer Road, Lower Portland, about 11am the same day.

Following inquiries, the man’s car was located on West Portland Road, Lower Portland, today (Monday 8 May 2023).

Officers attached to Fairfield and Hawkesbury Police Area Command have made a public appeal for information, issued two geo-target SMS alerts, and today commenced a land search for the man.

Police Rescue, the Public Order & Riot Squad, along with the NSW SES are assisting in a search of the Lower Portland area, which will continue throughout the night.

More resources are expected to join the search tomorrow (Tuesday 9 May 2023).

Phong is described as being of Asian appearance, about 160cm tall with slim build, and short grey hair.

He was last seen wearing pyjamas but may now be wearing a button-up shirt, jeans, and a pair of joggers.
