Police are appealing for assistance from the public as they investigate a road rage-related assault at Bankstown overnight.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command have been told three people in a white Toyota Hilux ute and the male driver of a black Toyota Hilux ute began arguing in Restwell Street about 8.40pm (Tuesday 18 April 2023).

Police have been told both vehicles drove away but then collided at the intersection of Restwell Street and Macauley Street; a second collision involving the same vehicles then occurred before the black ute left the scene.

Three occupants from the white ute, the 44-year-old male driver and two passengers – a man aged 21 and a woman aged 33 – attended Bankstown Police Station and reported the incident.

They left Bankstown Police Station about 9.30pm, returning to the intersection of Restwell Street and Macauley Street, where a third crash occurred, again involving the same black ute.

A short time later, multiple calls were made to Triple Zero (000) reporting the three people from the white ute were being assaulted at the scene by up to eight people. That group had dispersed by the time police arrived only minutes later.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the three people from the white ute for minor injuries with none requiring hospitalisation.

As inquiries continue police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident – or any available mobile phone or dashcam footage – to contact Bankstown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
