Woman charged after allegedly sharing private data for criminal activity - Strike Force Kkuoa

The State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a woman after she allegedly provided information in connection to the alleged kidnapping of a man in Sydney’s west earlier this month.

About 5.20am on Thursday 9 March 2023, police will allege in court that a group of armed men forced entry to a home on Brenan Street, Smithfield, where they grabbed a 26-year-old man and forced him into a vehicle.

They fled the scene and police were notified a short time later.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad – assisted by Fairfield City Police Area Command – established Strike Force Kkuoa to investigate the incident.

On Tuesday 14 March 2023, six men – aged 19, 20, and 21 – were arrested and charged for their alleged roles in the incident; they remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 21-year-old woman on Roberts Road, Greenacre, about 11am today (Wednesday 12 April 2023).

She was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, unauthorised function with intent serious offence (penalty>10 y), access/modify restricted data held in computer, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Police will allege in court the woman was an employee of a state government agency and accessed personal data which was shared with others for the purpose of criminal activity.

The Yagoona woman was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 13 April 2023).

Investigations under Strike Force Kkuoa are continuing.
