A man has been charged after more than 57,000mg of prescribed restricted substance was seized in Sydney’s CBD.

Yesterday (Wednesday 15 February 2023), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command’s Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation, following reports a prescribed restricted substance was being sold from a tobacco store in Sydney.

Following inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at the store premises about 1.20pm today (Thursday 16 February 2023).

Police located and seized 578 boxes containing 100mg of a prescribed restricted substance, electronic storage devices, a passport and other documentation.

The medication has an estimated potential street value of $10,000.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the premises and taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with restricted substance sold by non-wholesaler, and two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The Forest Lodge man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 22 February 2023.
