At the request of NSW Police, a man has been extradited from the United Kingdom, to face prosecution for serious domestic violence offences.
In April 2015, detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation into alleged domestic violence offences in the Sydney area.
Following extensive inquires, police obtained an arrest warrant for a 37-year-old man, who was known to be residing in the United Kingdom.
Investigating police travelled to London, where the man was surrendered for extradition to NSW.
The man was flown to Sydney today (Thursday 16 February 2023) in the company of NSW Police and was taken to Mascot Police Station.
An outstanding warrant was executed for four offences including:
- Two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV)
- Reckless grievous bodily harm (DV)
- Cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent (DV)
Police will allege the man allegedly assaulted a then aged 25-year-old woman, who was known to him, on numerous occasions between April and July 2015, in one instance causing life threatening injuries.
The man was refused bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today.
NSW Police acknowledge the assistance of the Attorney-General’s Department and the Australian Federal Police in this matter.
