Man's charges upgraded after woman dies following alleged fall from car - Airds

A man has had his charges upgraded following the death of a woman who allegedly fell from the bonnet of a car in Sydney’s west last week.
About 3.20pm (Thursday 2 February 2023), emergency services were called to Peppin Crescent at Airds, and found a 40-year-old woman critically injured.
She was taken to Liverpool Hospital while officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into how the woman came to be injured.
The driver of the car, a 43-year-old man who is known to the woman, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing before being taking to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and appeared in Campbelltown Local Court on Friday 3 February 2023.
Investigators were advised the woman had died in hospital yesterday (Saturday 5 February 2023).
As a consequence, the man’s charges have now been upgraded to manslaughter, dangerous driving occasioning death, and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege in court the woman was injured after falling from the bonnet of a car being driven by the man.
The man is next due to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday (7 February 2023).
