Police will address the media as detectives investigating a fatal stabbing at Toongabbie last year extradite a man from Queensland.

Emergency services were called to Valeria Street, Toongabbie, about 6.30pm on Friday 7 January 2022, where a man was found suffering stab wounds.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command rendered first aid to the man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived; however, he died at the scene.

The man was later identified as 45-year-old Shane Naylor.

Detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Haskett to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Following extensive inquiries, with assistance from the Queensland Police Service, a 57-year-old man was arrested in Queensland, just after 10.30am yesterday (Monday 9 January 2023).

He was taken to Brisbane Magistrates Court on a NSW arrest warrant, where NSW Police detectives were granted his extradition to NSW.

The man was escorted to Tweed Heads Police Station by Strike Force Haskett investigators today (Tuesday 10 January 2023) where the warrant was executed.

Investigations under Strike Force Haskett are ongoing.
